The Renault car, or Renault automobile is a range of cars produced by the French company Renault from 1906 to 1959. As one of the Big 3 manufacturers of European cars during the 1920s and 1930s, Renault was a top tier marque in the world. Between 1924 and 1929 Renault had the most sales of any car manufacturer in the world, until overtaken by Ford, and the second most in the second half of the decade. Between 1939 and 1959 Renault had a very significant presence in the European car market and produced and sold their first mass-produced, low priced cars under the Simca marque. When introduced in 1906, the Renault was a three-seater with an internal combustion engine and a 4- or 6-cylinder configuration. Since they were mostly made in-house by Renault, and for the majority of their life cycle not bought directly from an outside supplier.
